Your instructor will meet you at an agreed time and location whether it be home, school, work etc. Pupils will need to ready, on time, be 'fit to drive' and bring their Provisional Licence.
Lessons will take place in a variety of locations dependent on needs and requirements of the objectives set by the pupil at start of each lesson. Lessons and locations are flexible to allow for progress and development in a pupil's understanding through practice and experience. Lessons will incorporate all road types, junctions, traffic conditions, which can be changed, adapted or repeated as needed.
Reynolds Driving School follows Client Centred Learning (CCL) which puts the pupil in control of their learning. At the start of each lesson the pupil sets their own targets and objectives (with the guidance of the ADI). Pupils are allowed to learn at their own pace and progress to new topics when they feel ready. At the end of every lesson there will be a chance for pupils to reflect on their learning and progress, as well as set goals for the next lesson.
Driving lessons will cover all aspects required starting off with the very basics at the beginning, through to the more complex skills and manoeuvres needed to pass a UK Driving Test and become a Safe Independent driver. Your Driving Instructor will guide your though different skills and driving techniques as required and keep a record of topics and areas covered.
Pupils are encouraged to build their knowledge and understanding during lessons through questions, visual aids, using driving theory knowledge and real-life practice.
To help prepare for a Practical Driving Test, mock driving tests are a valuable and recognised way (by The DVSA and their Senior Training Officers) to help pupils. Including Mock Tests during lessons before a test helps our pupils better understand how a test is conducted and to drive independently under test conditions. Mock tests may help illustrate where more understanding, development or practice may be required as well as boosting confidence and highlighting progress.
Your instructor will discuss Mock Tests with the pupil at the appropriate time, usually a few weeks before a test.
All driving lessons are with an experienced Approved Driving Instructor, in a fully insured Dual Controlled car.
ADI Badge and number will be on display at all times.
This means your instuctor has undergone extensive training, passes regular safety and background checks, completes regular DVSA Standards Checks and is on the Government Register of Approved Driving Instructors.
Will I drive on my first lesson with no driving experience?
Yes, absolutely! Your instructor will get you in the driving seat on your first lesson and get you driving.
Should I have regular driving lessons?
We believe pupils learn best with regular high-quality lessons when they can consistently build their knowledge, understanding and experience
Can a pupil change their lesson time some weeks if needed?
Regular lesson times/days generally work best for both pupil and instructor however we run a fluid diary so we can move lesson times where needed to flex with our pupils needs. You generally agree the time and date of your next lesson with the instructor at the end of each lesson.
What happens if I do something wrong and make a mistake?
Pupils learn in a dual controlled car with an experienced Approved Driving Instructor to ensure safety. When mistakes occur, they can often be used as a learning tool or as a starting point for discussions to help develop greater understanding. Whilst learning your instructor will offer guidance and support and choose appropriate practice areas to minimise and manage the risk at all times.
Can I start or finish the lesson at home/school/work/college/University?
You can start and finish the lesson anywhere in the local area to help fit your schedule.
Can I practice in my own car between lessons?
Yes, as long as the car is legal, taxed and insured and you have an Accompanying Driver who meets the legal requirements. It is usually beneficial for pupils to practice with a family member or friend as you can gain valuable experience and time behind the wheel.
How long will it take to pass a driving test?
How long varies from pupil to pupil, time taken waiting for test dates also has to be considered. Regular driving lessons and practice will help minimise time needed to pass and cost to the pupil
